Reuse Pickle Juice To Make More Pickles

Reuse Pickle Juice To Make More Pickles !
After finishing a jar of pickles I sliced up half a fresh cucumber and placed in the jar after about 24 hours they should be ready to eat. I have been doing this for years, I say why waste the pickle juice reuse and save money. Use juice from dill pickles, gherkins or other pickled vegetables. Use until all the flavour has gone maybe 2 or 3 times . Why not give it a try if you haven't done it before. Then you could mix it with some vegetable oil and make a salad dressing I always use extra virgin olive oil, you could also add some finely chopped herbs for extra flavour& maybe a dash of honey.

Homemade Almond Butter

Homemade Almond butter

Makes about ¾ cup.
While almond butter can be made from raw nuts, roasting the nuts just prior to making the butter considerably enhances both flavor and aroma. To roast the almonds, spread them in a thin layer on a baking sheet at 300°F for about 20 minutes. Stir a couple of times to assure even roasting.
1 cup roasted almonds
¼ teaspoon sea salt
1 tablespoon unrefined vegetable oil
Combine the almonds and salt in a food processor, blender, meat grinder or nut butter machine and process until the nuts are finely ground. Add the oil and continue processing until the almond butter reaches your desired degree of smoothness, adding more oil if necessary. For chunky butter, stir in ¼ cup chopped almonds. Store, tightly covered, in the refrigerator.
Variations: Substitute Brazil nuts, cashews, hazelnuts or macadamia nuts for the almonds. Or combine two or more of these nuts in any proportion.
NOTE: I don't add the oil to my almond butter nor do i add any kind of salts...i blend them in the food processor until they release there own oils, this can take up to 35 minutes...depending on the size of your food processor.

Dandelion Flower tea

Dandelion Flower tea

  • Just go out to your yard and cut off the flower tops (no green parts) of those pretty little things we call dandelions.

  • Just steep a handful of them in a cup of water for 20 minutes. Add a little sweetner - I use stevia - and you have a nice cup of dandelion tea. It's a great tonic, flushing out the liver and giving your immune system a needed boost!

Wine making Method: Tomato Wine - Wine Making Guides
Wash and chop tomatoes. Add to winemaking fermentation bucket, together with all other ingredients, apart from wine yeast. Stir wine mixture and leave to settle overnight.

Add activated wine yeast and stir the tomato wine 'must' twice daily for five days. Strain the tomato wine mixture thoroughly, extracting all of the juice and liquor. Transfer fermenting tomato wine into demijohn, with an airlock. Rack for the first time at four weeks, and then two or three more times until clear and one year old. Bottle the tomato wine and leave to stand for a few months before drinking.
